Description

The source is a black and white photo of the exterior of the Grauman's Chinese Theatre (now Manns Chinese Theatre) with the caption “Famous Hollywood landmark, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre today is flashing a brand new face lift - its second since the film palace opened 30 years ago. The entire facade has been revamped at a cost of $30,000 - with twin marquees installed on both sides. Also a $13,000 carpet, hand-loomed by Chinese artisans, is in the process of being installed at the theatre." The theatre is best known for the hand prints, footprints and signatures of famous actors and actresses stamped into in concrete. Built in 1927, the theatre was deemed a historic and cultural landmark in 1968. The building itself was created using materials such as bells and dragon head imported directly from China to make the theatre seem more authentic.
