Description

This is a black and white photograph with unknown original size details. It is believed that the photograph was taken by a member of the U.S Army Signal Corps or U.S Navy. It shows a large combat group gathered at the Ionlani Palace, previously a royal residence in Honolulu. The photo features 2,600 American Japanese volunteers who had come together for a tribute from the community. The photograph is believed to be of the 442nd Infantry Regiment, initially based in Hawaii before being sent to Camp Shelby in Mississippi. The mass of people in the source shows the effect of World War Two on the militarisation of the country.
