Description

This is a typed government document featuring the impromptu remarks made by President Dwight Eisenhower regarding Hawaii becoming the 50th U.S State. The remarks are captured by James C. Hagerty, serving Press Secretary to the President and made on the 21st of August 1959, the same day Hawaii’s statehood was confirmed. President Eisenhower calls the event a ‘historic occasion’ and wishes Hawaii good luck in contributing to the strength of the United states.
