Description

This source is a handwritten love letter from Ronald Reagan to his wife Nancy Reagan, worded to ‘Mammie poo’ from ‘Poppa’. The letter is a page long and has arrow through two hearts illustrated in the left hand corner. Prior to Ronald Reagan’s inauguration as President as the United states in 1981, he was a Hollywood actor. Reagan was not able to join the army during the Second World War due to his poor eyesight. Instead he made training films for the army, showing him in action and saying goodbye to his wife. During his Presidential campaign he was remembered as a war hero despite never going to war. This source relates to both the importance of Hollywood during the Second World War and shows the power of propaganda in political campaigns.
