Description
This source is from The Miner, a daily newspaper in British Columbia. In one of the articles, it is mentioned that a group of missionaries were on their way to the Kootenay district to organise a systematic Chinese mission there. This points towards the direct role of missionaries to not just convert indigenous peoples, but also the large number of immigrants settling in British Columbia from all over the world. The gold rush in the mid-nineteenth century brought in people from all over the world who wanted to strike gold. Missionaries would then attempt to convert these immigrants to Christianity. This source is directly related to the themes of immigration and missionary work.
