Description
The source is a picture of several men posing in their work outfits. They worked in the lumber industry at Lynn Valley located in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Lumber workers would often work long hours. Many roles included climbing big trees to cut them from the top and ‘skid greasers’ who coated the skids of moving logs. The source shows that lumberjacking existed at this time and was a place for working men to get jobs to earn and income. The source suggests the theme of economic development because the lumber industry is responsible for creating jobs for these working men and the requirement for expanding transportation to export the lumber inland or export out of the country.
