Description

This is an act to authorise the payment of $5,000 to the Government of Japan for the benefit of the family of Torahichi Uratake, a Japanese subject, killed at Schofield Barracks, Hawai’i, on November 25, 1915. This legislative document shows the agreement with Japan, and the attempt to appease the nation and get them to adhere to what it is that America wanted. This decision, though not wholly significant, came 15 years after the informal Gentleman’s Agreement with Japan in 1907.
