Religious book telling the story of Padre Junipero Serra, a Catholic missionary from Spain who organised the first of 21 Spanish missions to California. Bound in a yellow cover, hardback version.
He spent his early career as a Franciscan educator in Palma, Spain then began working to spread the word of God in Mexico before travelling to California. Between the years of 1769 and 1782 he established nine successful missions. “According to the Franciscan Friars, Province of Saint Barbara's website, Serra's first nine missions were home to more than 4,600 converted Native Americans and more than 6,700 Native Americans had been baptized through the missions by the end of 1784 .” First language is Spanish. The author, R.E White, wrote this to present a biography of the life and important work of Padre Junipero Serra, who is seen as a religious figurehead.
