Press Release Regarding Presidential Proclamation Number 3309, Admission of the State of Hawaii Into the Union, August 21, 1959

The document is a press release of the President’s proclamation stating the admission of Hawaii as a US state. It states that the Congress approved the establishment of the State of Hawaii on March 18 1959 and that the election held on November 7 1950 in Hawaii confirmed the constitution. The majority of the legal votes in the election on June 27 1959 were in favour of the propositions submitted to Hawaii and the Governor of Hawaii has certified the submission of the people of Hawaii and that they have adopted the propositions and have elected the required officers. Eisenhower proclaims that the State of Hawaii into the Union is on an equal footing with the other states is now accomplished.
