Description
A drawing based on a photograph, depicting Queen Liliuokalani beginning her confinement in her palace. The picture was featured in an unknown San Francisco paper. Although no specific date is given Queen Liliuokalani’s region of Hawaii, as its last Queen, came to an end in 1893, and I would estimate that the source is from this year. That a photograph was taken and then illustrated after suggests that it was significant and that there was a demand for news and work of this kind. Furthermore, that it was produced in a San Francisco paper implies that the issue of regional control of Hawaii was discussed throughout the U.S.
