Description

The below source is a document which was created using a type writer. This printed textual source headed with ‘Constitution’ outlines the objectives of the Mission Indian Federation in California, 1922. The Mission Indian Tribe in southern California grew frustrated with the oppressive treatment towards Native American Culture and as a result formed the organisation ‘Mission Indian Federation’ to protest against this. They produced this article to explain and set out their aims to protect the rights of all Native Indians and protect home-rule for southern- Californian indigenous tribes. The source states that the Federation wanted to protect Native Americans against unjust laws and regulations, and guard the interests of the Southern Californian Native tribes. The source demonstrates the growing hostility during the twentieth century between Native Americans and the American government.
