Description
This is a 20-cent stamp commemorating the silver jubilee of Ha-waiian statehood. It was issued on March 12, 1984 in Honolulu, Hawaii and the First Day of Issue ceremony was held at the Hono-lulu City Hall. Stamps like this were released at several occasions such as the 25th and 50th anniversary of Hawaii Statehood.
This stamp was designed by Herb Kane of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, and modelled by Richard C. Sennett. It features three main elements, including a Golden plover in flight, an Eastern Polynesian voyaging canoe and a volcano erupting on the flank of Mauna Loa, the world's largest active volcanic mountain.
