Description

The source shows a clipping from a newspaper, the clipping shows that the newspaper served a purpose of advertising to the people of Hawaii. However, whilst this newspaper is printed for the Hawaiian Islands, it is clearly serving a purpose for those who settled on the lands, rather than the natives themselves. Whilst many Hawaiians had been taught the English language, it is clear that the newspaper is not addressing them. With a specific advertisement addressing Captains, and another providing ways of accommodation and land, it is clear this would be very useful to missionaries and settlers of the land. This shows how significant the influence of missionaries and settlers was on the infrastructure of Hawaii.
